Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver lunch and smiles to our meal clients Monday-Friday (including weekday holidays). Meal delivery takes about 60 to 90 minutes. Please arrive at our West End Central Kitchen location between 11 and 11:30am to pick up your meals. You will be given complete turn by turn printed directions. Please bring a medium sized coolers of your own OR cooler bags to transport the food. Volunteer drivers can commit daily, weekly, or monthly.

Backup drivers are always appreciated for that time when our regular drivers are unavailable. Do you have an occasional free moment Monday-Friday between 11 and 1:30pm? If so, please consider being a backup driver for Meals on Wheels of the Sandhills.  Meal delivery takes about 60 to 90 minutes. If you are called upon to deliver meals as a substitute driver, you will arrive at the West End Central Kitchen location between 11 and 11:30am. You will be given complete turn by turn printed directions. Please bring a medium sized cooler of your own OR cooler bags to transport the food.

Groups and Organizations

Are you a group that would like to adopt a route? Groups, organizations, and businesses can coordinate a rotation of volunteers/employees to drive meals on a regular basis Monday-Friday. For example, you could have the magical Monday where a different person from your organization/business delivers their route each Monday. Or, are hump day Wednesdays better? Then request that day! If this sounds like a way your group can help the community, please fill out a volunteer application form.

If your group isn’t able to commit to a regular schedule but would possibly have someone to cover a 60-90 minute route Monday-Friday between 11am and 1:30pm then let us know and we’ll add you as a backup! Please complete the volunteer application form.
