About Us

small grassroots beginning in 1974

to now serving over 90 residents

daily!

Meals on Wheels of the Sandhills began as a grassroots movement in 1974 by Ida Baker Scott and friends wanting to serve meals to their community in need. Now, 50 years later, our 501c3 nonprofit organization is still working on ending food insecurity for homebound residents of Central and Southern Moore County, NC. Over 100 volunteers serve a hot, midday, nutritious meal to over 90 people every Monday through Friday, including weekday holidays! Current programs serve the areas of Seven Lakes, West End, Foxfire, Jackson Springs, Whispering Pines, Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen, and Pinebluff, NC.

Our VISION and MISSION is to address food insecurity for Moore County, NC residents who are homebound, with or without disabilities, and unable to cook for themselves or don’t have others to cook for them. Meals on WHeels of the Sandhills accomplishes this by providing human connection through delivery of a hot, nutritious, midday meal every weekday.
